When it comes to choosing the perfect name for our little princes and princesses, there are a lot of options to consider, and it may include choosing one that ends with a specific letter.

Some of the most common endings are A, N, and Y. In 2018, seven of the ten most popular girls’ names on the United States Social Security Administration’s (SSA) list of girls’ names end in A. One entry, Evelyn, ended with N. The first Y came at number 12 with Emily.

It is much more common to see boys’ names ending with N than A or Y. Some of the top names ending with N include Logan, Ethan, Benjamin, and Mason.

The most shared entries ending with Y are Henry at the sixth spot and Anthony ranking at number 38.

If you don’t fancy any of these popular names, consider that you may be Thomas “Tommy” or William “Billy.”

Plus, some of the most popular baby boy names ending in Y are gender-neutral names, with Avery and Riley appearing on lists for both girls and boys.

There are only 17 baby boy names ending in A, with Joshua being the most common, and ranking at the 41st spot in the SSA 2018 top 1,000 lists of boy names.

If you aren’t a fan of boy name ending with A and you’re more comfortable with the “ah” sound, you don’t need to wander too far as Elijah and Noah are also on the list and among the top 10.

Names ending in “ah” are usually seen in Biblical baby boy names, including those two plus Jeremiah, Isaiah, Josiah, Jonah, Micah, Zachariah, and Nehemiah.

Choosing any of these names gives you the opportunity to blend your child’s name with the family name or other siblings’ names.
